Yellowstone Pass

A more "normal" scene for most of us from Yellowstone. Mountains, cliffs and a beautiful sky. No mud, hot springs or smoldering water spouts.

Taken with Canon 5D, using 24-105 IS lens.

Comments and critiques please.

Patricia,

Great job in handling the light and especially the shadow detail; just enough and the light balance looks good. Nice warm light hitting the rocky mountain ridge and a good set of clouds. Nothing to criticize here, although am I noticing a very hint of a halo between the rock and sky on the left? very minor if it is.

Nice image that captures some of Yellowstone that we, non-natives, don't get to see much of. thanks!

Beautiful light on the right hand cliff. You have just enough detail in the shadows to intrigue me. (is that columnar basalt in the cliff on the left?) I like this view. Nicely captured.

I really like the framing with the color and the cliffs. Clouds maybe feel a bit weak by comparison. Would maybe work to have them match the drama in the land a bit better.

Nice light! I wouldn't connect this scene with Yellowstone either. But having been there once, I can see it.

I'm another that wishes the sky had more color and drama, but I think we may be getting a little jaded to nature's quieter, calmer moments. Which this image has. And, your sharpening looks better on my monitor now. Well done! Thanks for this normal moment. :wavey:
