This was taken in the courtyard of an apartment I was living at in Los Angeles. I was experimenting with flash lighting ratios and I was quite pleased with the result. Any comments are appreciated.

Taken with Canon 7D w/ Canon 24-105 L @ 92mm and 550 EX
1/160s, f/8, ISO 100

This is my comment, Evan: If you were quite pleased with the result, that is what really matters. I'm happy for you. :toast: :wavey:

After looking at it for a while I do notice that it is a bit dark (seems to be a common issue with my shots) and it might pay to open up some of the shadows.

Evan:
I like the mood in this 'dark' image. However, as you said, opening up the shadow to show the 'beard'. Also wish for a little more DOF to get the forward petal in focus.

You've got the flower nicely isolated from the background, which really shows off the flower's shape and textures. For me, your placement of the vertical purple petal in the center attracts so much attention that I very much wish it was sharp as well.

Evan: I like the lighting but would like some more DOF. Also, on my laptop I can see some artifacts just to the left of the left upper petal. Good experiment.>=))>
