Grand Smokey Mountains 5

Canon S2-IS
ISO 50, 1/1600 @ f3.5

More from the smokey dawn the day after Halloween. This is full frame with this camera so no cropping used. Also, the noise is what you get with a small sensor even at low ISO settings. Still a lot better than no camera at all! All comments welcome.>=))>

Man, that's a noisy shot, Bill reminds me of stuff i took with my Dig Rebel at ISO 800. Stuff that i really like but which has been relegated to hard drive hell due to my later camera purchases. Maybe run some filters on it and post it in P.A. Maybe ill join you and post some of mine there too...

I have to say Bill, I like this, you composed it beautifully, the noise isn't bad at all with the small pick, and your right, I usually carry a pocket camera with me just in case.

Whatever, It just looks old! There once was a time when this would have been top quality relative to noise. You can't stop advancement. But advancement doesn't turn good into bad, IMO. It's a nice moody shot, I like it.

Subtle beauty. The way of "things" is that when noise (or anything else) is mastered, all that came before is reduced to nearly nothing. This is a fine "image" by my standards, now and in the future.

Bill,

I'm loving the atmosphere and subject matter here; the light, design. Sorry to say that the image quality ruins it for me, nostalgic looking or not. But can't argue that camera in hand is better than not!

Thinking this would work converting to b and w and creating an antique type grainy image...Nice composition and mood.

Great composition here..especially like the lead in of the fg mountain. Really makes me want to be standing there enjoying the beauty!! I agree, the noise is a bit much, but a great capture nonetheless.

Love the comp and the mood of this Bill. The noise feels like grain to me and I've got no problem with it.
