Nice use of a heavy ND gradient filter as opposed to trying a HDR approach; great result. I'm going to have to get me one of those before I retire while I can still afford it.

The luminance in the forefront of the closest part of the image almost makes it look like it is on fire relative to the rising sun; beautiful. Because, of course, the mind realizes that portion of the image would have been in shadow, relatively speaking. So it is excessively glowing, which I think is a nice feature of the image. And so, it does retain some kind of HDR element to it, I think. Not that that's a bad thing.

But what I really like about it the most, even more so than the above, is how you have achieved such a huge third dimension. The rock in the foreground is obviously much, much smaller than those mountains in the background, but my mind, in taking this all in, creates an image of amazing depth.

So there is a lot here to assimilate; so thank God for that huge, thick, black frame to keep the eye there.

Really sweet light and very nice composition. The exposure of the sun and sky is right on.

Another excellent landscape image. You have had a productive season with one winner after another. :toast:

I like the warm glow that covers the land Bill. You did an excellent job handling a tough exposure. Your comp works well too.

Very nice image, Bill. Where's the man element?

The lofty point of view plays out nicely over this scene. LIke the sunburst as well.

Thanks for your comments. The "man-element": there's a gravel road on the right side of the image in the distant. And one left side you'll find some small farms.
