Black-crested Titmouse

Here's another shot from Santa Clara Ranch in the Rio Grande Valley. I placed a small perch above some feed by one of the waterholes. I was happy to catch this titmouse right as it alighted on the perch. This is almost full frame, with just a small crop from the right.

7D 500F4 1/1000 F5, iso 500, Feisol tripod with Wimberly head, from sunken blind.

Wow Nate. This is an incredible image. The light is just great and combination of sharpness and wing blur couldn't be better. Well done.

Wonderful image Nate. The birds pose, the slight blur in the wings while nice and sharp in the eyes really makes this image pop. Wonderfully done. :toast:

Very nicely executed, Nate. I think the amount of wing blur is perfect for this image. I'd love a chance at this species one day.

Looks like a Christmas tree topper! Nice comp and pose, and I like the crest way up like that. Gorgeous bg, too. Sharon

Perfect timing Nate. BG is very nice and amount of wing blur is just right. Sunken blind? Could you provide details?

Thanks for your comments everyone.

Mark, this ranch has several permanent blinds which are built into the ground so that when you are in the blind you are sitting below ground level and your lens is just above ground level. They are placed right in front of waterholes. It's a great place to shoot.

Dusted the cob webs off that tripod ehh  This a smoking shot Nate! Great action in sweet light, a pleasing wing spread and fanned tail.
