Peak fall colors in the Columbia River Gorge of Oregon, November 2012.

This scene really caught my eye in the gorge last weekend. I really liked how the creek, fallen big leaf maple leaves and moss all came together here to create a very pleasing composition.

Nikon D800, Nikkor 16-35mm f/4 G at 17mm, polarizer
3 image blend for DOF and water texture
1.6 sec at f/16, ISO 100 - for the rocks, leaves and trees
1/4 sec at f/16, ISO 400 - for the water
1.3 sec at f/16, ISO 100 - for DOF in the RLC

Thanks for any comments or suggestions. Please check out the larger version.

I'm really enjoying the vibrant color in this one, Scott, with the contrasting oranges and greens. I also like the sense of depth that you have portrayed here. I'm also impressed with your arrangement of the elements in what is sure to have been a busy scene. That takes more skill than most people realize.

Sure beats the heck out of just greens and water. Great perspective here and the way it creates a diagonal.

Scott,

A very pleasing composition indeed. I really like how the stream pulls the eye in to the frame. And there is so much color and autumn to enjoy... this is very excellent and simply enjoyable.

Scott: The processing on this is awesome and this is an amazing image. The greens and oranges really seem to stand out and the composition just takes you right through the gorge.

Really like your perspective looking downstream, the diagonal leading the eye nicely back into a wonderful warm canvas or perhaps carpet, of autumn color. The touches of green moss add a great contrast.

A wonderfully scene beautifully rendered! You handled the tricky exposure well and the shutter speed you chose for the water was just right.

Really nice fall scene, Scott, if it were mine I might try dodging those highlights a little in the distant part of the creek..to enhance the depth even more. Larger version is fantastic.

The orange/green glow here is really fine, I can see why it would catch your eye. The creek is great as a leading line that really emphasizes the depth. Beautifully seen and shown.

Pretty amazing detail under this lighting. Almost looks like you were downstream looking up, but I guess this was an upstream view. Often much more difficult to pull off, but there is enough interest to carry me through. This area looks to be great year round.

Love the rich colors, texture of the moss in the FG, and water leading through the frame. Very nicely done. I'm going to have to remember to look downstream once in a while when shooting streams/falls....

Very nice Scott I like this the image is just a little too polarised for my taste but the result is very striking.

Beautiful mix of green and gold. I like the descending flow composition you caught too. Sometimes it's hard to make that work well.
