I usually actively avoid photographing breeding birds but this one 'found me'. I was walking through the bush when I heard its chattering call This red flash then flew straight past me and fed two young in a nest less than 4m away. Both adults continued to do this with me sitting a little further away. The male obliged by using these dead banksia flowers as a final perch beforwe flying to the nest whereas the female flew straight to the nest.

Lovely spot of color on this beautiful bird. Nice and sharp. I like the perch of dead flowers, but the bit of greenery to the left is somewhat distracting.

Nice to be at the right place and right time but a real bonus when you can come away with a fine composition like this. I like the color patterns to this bird and the seeing the insect. The interesting perch really adds to this image for me, well done Rob.
