Great Blue

I had an opportunity to visit Ridgefield WMR in Washington State last week and was taken with the Great Blue Herons. These guys are ubiquitous at Ridgefield, and fairly common throughout the continent, so no big deal right? Well,yes-but I noticed and captured in a few images of contrasting behavior in this species that made an impression upon me and I thought I'd post a few of the images in the coming days.

Here a GBH in very early morning foggy light which I found evocative in it's simplicity and tranquility.

There's nothing like fog to simplify an image. This works well here and I like the image as presented.

Love the calm water and sharp reflection. Would like to also see a version with a boost in contrast.

The simplity of the image makes this shot for me, Chuck. The effect of the foggy light works well and the smooth water made for a nice reflection, which you took advantage of with your comp. Well done.
