Was out working in California all week (Central Valley). Did make it out to do some photography. This is one of my favorite images from the small amount of time I had to take pictures. Truly an awesome sparrow IMO.

Please view the larger version for max detail. Thanks.

Super nice Ron! I really like the barbed wire perch for this species, and the barbs acting as a repeating shape like the bird's nails is really cool. Nice comp and gorgeous complimentary bg. Sharon

Excellent. I like the photo and your judgment on sparrows. Perfect background, too.

Very nice. I get a small thrill each time I see one of this species in the field - their face markings are so nice.

I love these birds too, especially their "clown" faces. This is excellent, Ron - I really like the rusty colors throughout, the sparrow looks great and I like the contrasting wire types. Excellent exposure and I like your comp. Well done.

Very nice portrait of this sparrow. The angle of the bird is really nice. Gotta love that smooth background.

There is something very attractive about this sparrow species, must be the bold markings on the head that does it for me. Perfect background for the bird's coloration. I would prefer just the barbed wire perch, the lower wire is a little unfortunate, but that's where he landed. Quite a different type of bird from your usual Floridian offerings.

A very striking Sparrow with the colorful patterns on the head. I like the overall tonality with the nice light brown background plus the the larger image detail, way to go Ron.

Lark Sparrows are really great looking birds. Great detail here and I like the brown tones throughout the entire image-bird, perch and background. Nicely done.
