Parker Lake 2

I am posting a new image that is similar to one I posted of the same place a week or two ago. I tried to incorporate some of the suggestions but I like this comp better.

Canon 5d, M3, ISO640, 24mm, f/16, 1/40 sec. Hand-held, polarizer.

Thanks in advance for any comments and critiques.

Beautiful scene and image, Kathy. I like the comp, and the light, while a bit strong, is positioned nicely to bring out the beautiful colors. Good use of the polarizer. The shadow areas look remarkably good. Only nit is the bright area on the log, but this is very minor. All in all, an excellent image.

Aside from the glorious scenery, the selectively lit brush in the foreground is what makes this appealing to me. This is far better than your previous attempt for a variety of reasons. Wonderful composition and scenery!

Wonderful composition Kathy. I like this one much more than the previous. One thing that caught my attention is the bright spot top center on the mountain. It looks like it was burned in too much and the color is off, slightly towards the red compared to the rest of the range. I almost made it to Parker lake when I was there earlier this month. It is definitely on my radar now.

Looks great, Kathy. There are lots of parts in here to like, the foreground grasses, the angled view across the water and then back up the mountain valley. In addition to the brightness of the log, it looks like there's a hint of flare in the mountain above center. There are several web posts that talk about how to eliminate flare in photoshop that would probably fix that bit of flare. The lovely scenery is well worth that (assuming you don't like the flare  ).

This is really nice , seems the highlights are a bit overblown. I believe with a little tweaking this could be incredible.

The detail under the water adds a lot here. I agree with the other comments, and am enjoying the scene myself. The splashes of fall color on the other side of the lake are a complete bonus. Viewing large only made this better!

Just love the light in this and how you've controlled it so well. Only thought might be to burn down the sunlit spot on the lower right a bit, but that's minor. This is a very engaging image with all that's going on here.

Wonderful comp Kathy and overall beautiful scene. I might try and darken the log and the brightest portion of the mountain but overall a wonderful scene.

Excellent light in this photo.
There does seem to be a pink area in the central cliff area which appears out of place and slightly blurred??? on my monitor.
I would consider removing some of the blue tint in the dark-cliff portion area.
I like the contrast in the foreground; the plants against the water.

Thank you everyone for your comments and critiques. I'm learning a lot, with your help! I can only hope to become half as good as so many of the photographers at NPN.

Beautiful light on the fg grasses and a wonderful comp. I'm a little bothered by what appears to me to be a bit of sun flare on the mountainside. but the rest of this image is delightful.

gorgeous scene and nice composition, Kathy. Looks like lens flare on the upper center mtn. About the only way to avoid this is to shield the front of your lens with hand, or something to block direct light into the front of your lens.
