First Snow on the Peaks

Last week I posted a view from this area taken earlier in the day. This is what it looked like after the clouds move up a bit higher, revealing the Eastern High Peaks Wilderness of the Adirondack Forest Preserve. I hung around the ridge for more than six hours, enjoying the intermittent snow showers and spots of sunlight moving over the landscape.

Wayne, once again a full sized image really pays off. The detail is much better in it, as well as the actual view into the valley below is much more visible. Colors, view, and processing all works for a super image.

Just a beautiful mix of snow and color. Some of my favorite lighting. I can see the attraction of the left tree in the image, but I might try and simplify by cropping to just the right, cluding just the FG and peaks behind. No shortage of resolution! That would lok great covering a wal! :toast:

Thanks Guys.
HARRY: Thanks for the comment on the composition. My last exposure of the day is a tighter shot, somewhat like you suggest. I'll post it tomorrow night.

Sure is a beautiful viewpoint. I could see hangin' out for a long time there. It's neat that the snow managed to stay on the tree and foliage, while the ground around is bare. I will see this(Adirondacks) before I'm done here!

A very majestic and beautiful scene that I rarely associate with New York. I like the snowy foreground (although a crop on the left is a good idea), the wonderfully lit midground forest and, of course, the mountains. Pretty much the entire scene!

A crisp snowy foreground, sprinkes of color in the midground and mountains that look like they have been painted on. It goes very well together. Gorgeous.

My eye just keeps roaming around this photo absorbing all of the detail in it. Great shot, Wayne. Really evocative of New England and the Adirondacks. I'm certainly glad you put in the time to get this one. It certainly was worth it.

Love the more subtle beauty of these eastern mountains Wayne. Fantastic autumn color beautifully contrasted against the snow covered peaks and foreground.

Majestic is the word, you have a way of portraying the beauty of the Adirondacks like no one Else, I always enjoy viewing your work, and this is no exception. Beautiful Wayne, in every way.

Wayne, This is really awesome. I love the snow and fall color mix. That is not something I'll ever see in Virginia. I like the tree on the left. since it is easy to see through it, it adds depth and scale to the mountains. You might consider burning the cloud in the UL down a little as it gets brighter at the edge. I like how the brightness of the image matches the visible conditions in the the picture.

The large version is really sweet Wayne. So much variety both in elements and color and I like the 3 specific and different viewing areas. My eyes start with the snowy area, move to the colorful autumn scene, and then on to the cooler colored mountains in the BG. It's fun exploring all those areas. Well done.

Another lovely view, Wayne. Is that the same snow covered tree that was "in the way" in your previous posts? It's great here. I really like the layers of transitions, snowy, colorful, snowy, cloudy and all the depth they bring to this image. What a great candidate for printing large and hanging above the mantle.

Each layer is beautiful in its own right, but the middle two (fall trees and distant mountains) put this over the top.
