cold and wet

I know the backgrounds a little blurry (and busy) and the hummingbird is in shadow, but it's different and that's why I posted it. It was a cold and rainy day...and I noticed it on my back porch (I do have hummingbird feeders out) and took the photo through the doors. I managed to get a few, but this is the only one I have on hand and the only info I have is it was taken with a 35mm lens. It was taken manually, as the flash wanted to keep going off in auto.

Hi Holly,
Welcome to NPN. It's neat that you have these birds coming to your feeder, but to get a decent shot with a 35mm lens is going to be tough. Try setting up some sticks that can be used as a more natural perch by the birds and get them in a place where you have a natural background. Also, it would be useful to know your settings. You can see that the background here has a lot of noise. This could be because your iso is too high.

With your nice feeder setup, Charlie is right. Try setting up some natural perches, like twigs and sticks with leaves/flowers. Birds make such wonderful subjects, and in most cases, seeing their eye is most important. I do appreciate you trying something different! Sharon
