The last leaf

I had posted this photo a while back in the landscape gallery but thought it would also fit this theme well. The brightly colored leaf stands out in marked contrast to the colorless trees in the background and symbolizes to me the transition of fall into the more colorless, stark season of winter.

Canon Rebel T1i. 131mm at F/7.1 for 1/125 sec. ISO 400.

Outstanding image and I agree it is very fitting for what i think is the theme. It is early in the week and if there are better to come, it should be great for the WC.

A simple but very effective capture for the theme, Carolyn. The larger version provides an excellent view of the detail and the thoughtful drop off of total focus range. Nice work here. The WC theme alone keeps us reviewing images to find what might make an understandable fit such as this idea provided in this post.

I really like this photo...the orange definitely makes the leaf "pop" from the background.

The brightly colored leaf shines in an otherwise colorless frame, perfect for this weeks theme.
Great job on this!:toast:

Perfect entry, Carolyn. I like how the leaf jumps from the rest of the scene, both in color and in detail/focus.

This is a wonderful illustration of the scene, as well as of how our perception changes with the seasons. When woods are ablaze with maples, birches and aspens, oak leaves often seem brown in comparison. When the bright crimsons and yellow are all on the ground, however, it's time to appreciate the brilliance of the longer-lasting oak leaves. In some areas, it's almost like two foliage peaks. Wonderful contrasts in textures as well as colors here, and beautiful bokeh.

Lovely color in the leaf, set of so starkly by everything else in b&w.

You composed this nicely with the leaf in perfect focus against the OOF background. I agree that it fits the theme this week. Perhaps clone out the two dark dots on the upper right edge.
