This amorous ram was chasing these ewes and they were jumping up and down the ledges trying to stave off his advances.

National Elk Refuge, Jackson, WY

Canon 5DII, 70-200L @ 200mm, f2.8, 1/1600sec, ISO 400

Any critiques would be greatly appreciated!

Very interesting image. I especially like the diagonal lines. I think I might try cropping some off the bottom.

Like this as is Scott. Gives a sense of the height involved. Exposure, etc. respectable. Quite interesting!

Terrific grouping, Scott. I appreciate the action of the ram pursing the ewe, and the one on top, peering downward on the action! This is quite pleasing and the only tweak I would consider would be a slight opening of the shadows along the bottom, such as in the hollow with the snow on the lower left and bottom right hand rocks, too. Another sheep down there, looking up, would have been pretty cool too! Kidding, of course, 'cause multiple animals are tough to pose (as if we have control beyond waiting and circumstance) and these sheep are all well posed! Thanks for posting this excellent capture.

Great title for the scene! It definitely looks like they're all trying to avoid him! Very nice image, I quite like the crop.

I'm loving this shot Scott - the capture of rutting behavior is excellent and the angled cliffs are nice. Looks to be a bit oversharpened, but it might just be due to the posting size restriction. Nice one!

I love this. Great show of their agility on dangerous precipices!

Lon's made some good tweak suggestions

It never ceases to amaze me to see how quick these guys are on those steep rocks - and how they never seem to have any balancing issues with those hooves.

That's a neat image Scott, I like it as posted. Cool to see the 3 ledges all holding animals. :toast:

Love this photo as posted. It really shows the precarious live these animals live atop America's cliffs. These animals are obviously high enough for one slip to bring an end to their lives!
