Red-tailed Hawk

I liked the flight posture as this juvenile took off from a sign post on Antelope Island. But the sign really was UGLY so I chose to clone it out.

7D, 1/2500, f/7.1, ISO 500, 500 f/4, shot from pickup window on 9/27/12, exposure adjustment in ACR, cropped to 60% of original image, sharpened bird, cloned out sign post perch at LRC, no additional processing or adjustments, natural light, not baited (decoy or otherwise), set up or called in

Absolutely top drawer, Ron! Really good control of H/S, a nicely blurred and neutral BG. Exquisite timing , to catch the hawk in the middle of a right turn. :toast:

I like the placement in the frame, sharp details and great DOF Ron.
I especially like the flight pose & POV, good call on that sign post.

No harm on the clone job - can't even tell. Great iamge. Red-tailed Hawk flight shots are exceedingly rare (which is odd) but you have nailed it here

I think I know where that sign is Ron! LOL
Terrific flight pose- love both the wing flair and the tail fan-and the intense stare of the bird. Very cool image.

Too stinking cool, wonderful flight shot Ron. I like the wing and tail spread along with the good eye contact and complimentary background color. All adds up to a excellent shot, the larger image was a pleasure to view.

Ron, did it think you were kin? Seriously, a very nice flight photo and I like that the underneath of the bird is well lit showing good detail. Classy pose and your dof choice was quite right. If you cloned, I can't tell it. Not that I want to find anything wrong, I can't. LOL
