This is 2 exposures blended together using my advanced Photoshop tonality control and multiple exposure blending techniques. I produced a video detailing these techniques, it's available here: Advanced Photoshop Tonality Control Video

This was taken 3 weeks ago while scouting for the Glacier workshop I co-lead with my good friend David Cobb. David puts on awesome workshops. I'll be assisting David with several more workshops in 2013. You can see his scheduled workshops for next year here: http://www.nwphotoworkshops.com/calendar.php

Cheers

Wow! Love it Zack. I love the sculpted nature of the rocks and the vibrant color of the lichen/moss. Absolutely beautiful.

The swirls keep me spinning in the foreground until I step back and enjoy the totality of the scene. :toast:

Pretty cool looking formations from Glacier. Looks a bit bright to me and cuts down on the mystery of this canyon. Maybe darkening a little would help for me. Very unique for glacier.

Harry, thanks for the feedback. I agree it should be dark, it adds to the mystery. My monitor is calibrated for my printer (Epson 7900), on my monitor and in print it actually looks a little dark, which is just the way I want it look.

Hey Zack - I agree yo base the image on the finished print, since that is wehre it really matters. Looks like you may have stitched several together wide angles or cropped the original? When I was there 2 years ago, I remember walking on the edge of avalache creek? and carved rocked very much like this.It was raining and not the time for me to go exploring :frown: Glad you did  I will have to check your video, as I am always loooking for better/easier/more natural ways to blend exposures. You seem to have it down.

Thanks Tony. Harry, right you are, when that rock gets wet it's slick as ice.

It's a nice composition, but I think the canyon walls are unnaturally bright - they don't fit with the light in the background. Perhaps you could post a version a little closer to what the printed version looks like.

I don't think I've ever seen a composition like this from here before, congrats on the originality. The light is very nice as well. :toast:
