Thank you for your comments on "On Fire." Much appreciated. Here are versions two and three. I think I like version one the best, but I am curious how others feel, so I am posting the other two. The "Larger file" is version three (a vertical). Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome. :wavey:

these are as nice or even better than your first post. I like that there is no opening between the petals that show the background.

fiery, indeed! Terrific gradients of color to follow throughout the image. Nicely done on both.

Nice macro/abstract Scott. I think this is quite artistic, the shades of colors are a real treat for my eyes. 'On Fire' was a good choice for title.

Scott - I much prefer the previous version (like you) - wider was more attractive with more flames receding progressively. I like the vertical orientation next in terms of preference.

But then you are forcing us really to pick from 3 great ones. I'd have anyone of them in my portfolio.

Scott, I like version 2 the best. I love the darker reds in this version.

I like them all. But agree that version 1 has more depth for me. Nicely done. I saw your marcos...wow...I gotta go by those more often. I am not too keen on insects and tend to avoid the gallery...then I see some flora stuff that is shreddingly beautiful!

Always intrigued by abstracts, Scott. This, like your previous post, is first class in terms of pure form and colour and also its suggestiveness; it's a wonderfully dynamic image. But I guess I prefer your dahlia abstract of 03/01/12 - for the way it additionally evokes the sensuous qualities of the flower. I really loved that one and, for me, it is arguably a stronger flower image. Maybe, though, they are just different approaches ? Would be interested to know how you see the comparison.

Ian, to me, they are entirely different images. I have always been drawn to designs in nature, that is, images which are entirely about design or pattern in nature, and may not even be recognizable for what they actually are. Ram's abstracts are examples of this using flower design, and I have a few of these myself. In the 3/1/12 image, the dahlia's design or pattern is important, but I am trying to capture the essence of the flower itself, and not just an abstract design. In "On Fire," I am just trying to capture a design, in this case, a design emulating flickering flames, and not the dahlia. Thus, I had entirely different objectives and, therefore approaches, to the two images. Thanks for asking, Ian.

I have really enjoyed seeing your fiery flower images, Scott! They are so bold, colorful, and seem to glow as if they are on fire. All three are great! I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. Well done!

Very cool, and that's very difficult when you're so hot
I like the first post & # 3 equally well, with # 2 here a "hot" runner-up

Whoa  I love this abstract! Love the comp & colors, and the fact these actually look like flames. Great eye.
