Short and Tall (repost)

This is a bit of an experiment for me, and I would like to know people's views on the comp especially. I normally shoot closer or crop but I wanted to suggest the profusion of the bed in which this tall cosmos was flowering; a vertical pano seemed to work best.

Canon 400D, 100mm Macro lens, 1/1600 sec @ f 2.8, tripod, some Color Efex blur

Ian - Another nice one from your Cosmos series. I am thinking of buying the Nik complete package after seeing what it can do in terms of processing.

A small crop from the bottom to remove the yellow center of the OOF Cosmos there also seems to work for me here.

I like the vertical pano crop. It enhances the feeling of the flower reaching out from the foliage below.

I like the unique vertical semi-pano comp, Ian. I also like the way you got both the flower and bud in focus.

Hi Ian, I like the vertical comp and the opaque appearance of the stem and extra buds/ leaves. I join Ram...cropping the bottom would be fine for me too. Nice dof. That blossom pops like cymbals in the orchestra!

Ian:
Your cosmos series has been outstanding, this one included. The pp is just sublime.

As for the framing, I would perhaps crop a little from the bottom, maybe up to the pink wash. This would make the short looks shorter and make the contrast of tall/short even greater.

Thanks Ram, Ken, Gary for the comment on a crop. Have done a revised version with a little taken off.

Ian
The rework is better. Might even go as far as excluding the pink wash at the bottom.
