Lesser Antillean Pewee

I just returned from my honeymoon in Dominica which is known as the "Nature Island". The place really can't be beat when it comes to hikes, waterfalls, and fauna above and below the water. My wife and I took an afternoon trip with "Dr. Birdy" to look for the two endemic Parrot species. We found one (missing out on the rarer species) but had a good variety of other species and surprisingly good weather considering we were in the rainforest. This is a full frame shot of the Lesser Antillean Pewee that stopped right in front of us. I like this frame because it has the addition of the bug on the fencing

Nikon D300s 300 f4 + 1.7X TC HH
f/8
1/400s
ISO 640

Full Frame, minor adjustments in ACR in CS5 on 27" iMac

Nice look at an interesting species and I agree that the bug adds interest. Congrats on your recent marriage Luke.

Excellent detail and lighting, especially on the feathers around the neck. Very nice bg. The bug is a nice addition. Well done.

I like the spread tail on this pewee. Try not to let the married life keep you from the field.
