Longs Peak 4

I rarely ever make it out for sunrise images, so when we were up in RMNP, I was excited to give this a go. We arrived about twenty minutes before the sun lit up the peaks, and enjoyed watching (and listening to) several large bull elk as they wandered around the meadow. I was shocked to see this one walk straight into my landscape composition, and pause for just long enough that I could grab some shots (shutter speed was 1/3 sec). Just after this, we saw a coyote leaping after a deer, just to the left of this frame. What a morning!

Okay, I need some help. I'm sitting behind TWO monitors right now (both not calibrated), wondering how in the world this image is looking to the rest of you. Too blue? Too muddy looking? Thanks in advance for your input...

Canon 60d 55-250mm @ 55mm
ISO 100 --- f/13 --- 1/3 sec. --- tripod --- no filters

Lovely light on Longs and the bull elk is a great addition. The colors look good on my calibrated laptop. The slight cyan in the distant peaks seems right for atmospherics and the sky seems about right (not too light) for not having a polarizer. The clarity is good, not muddy. I do feel like the elk is a bit close to the bottom, but that's a minor nit. This shows off RMNP very nicely. The large view does look much better.

Nice light, and the elk is a great additional element. Lucky, and good.

Nothing like a handsome critter to spice up a landscape. This critter is more than handsome, and this landscape is gorgeous, to this is a real winner.
I do wish there were more ground on the bottom to get the bull off the edge (a relatively easy fix even if that's all the room you have).
Color details are subjective, and vary a lot between monitors and different browsers. The colors look natural for this time of day, on my calibrated wide-gamut monitor using the Firefox browser.

Very pretty Nathan. Love the light on the peak and the elk really adds a great point of interest. I do wish there was a llittle more room below the elk.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment, everyone!

I agree, the elk is a bit close to the edge. Perhaps I should have taken the time to try and fix that on field. It's sort of funny, but between my two lenses (10-22mm & 55-250mm), I couldn't get any more zoomed out from where I was, especially since I was stuck on a road with 'meadow closures' (5 p.m - 7 a.m)! Enough of the excuses... Thanks for all the input! :wavey:
