A recent image from a remote slot in the Arizona desert. The title was inspired by a Housman poem. This illustrated a recent blog post of mine which tells the story of my encounter with an angry beaver . . .

Ian, this is incredible. I saw this on G+ the other day and the colors and lighting are just fantastic. Is this a focus blend by chance?

An amazing image for me, Ian. While the lower part works as an abstract, the upper part makes for a great sense of depth and scale to my eye. I also enjoy your play with varying shapes.

Ian, this is excellent all the way around. I especially like the idea of only seeing the sky as a reflection in the water and not in view over our head, a very unique perspective....

This is just beautiful Ian. Love how the blue reflection of the sky leads to a flame of light towards the end of the slot. Really makes me want to get into those canyons.

Met plenty of angry beavers back in college.
We called 'em "Growlers" lol ;)
Your image... well, simply astounding.
Your eye and processing are amongst the best...

Feels tight, but I bet the slot felt the same way. Way to stay true to the scene. Very well done.

Great image because it provokes thought. Enjoyed your blog article and I agree that it's dreams, both voluntary and involuntary that allows us to keep feeling alive.

Wow. It's a composition that I sadly admit I probably wouldn't have thought of had I been standing there, but this has truly given me a spark to start looking and seeing more creatively. Awesome image.

This is the most compelling use of a reflected foreground element I can recall seeing. Magnificent exposure control and vision to pull this together!
