American Avocets

Olympus E-5, 300mm x 1.4TC, braced in truck window
f5.7, 1/2000, ISO400

This line of American Avocets seemed to float in the calm waters of Great Salt Lake this morning. Part of a very successful day of bird photography with NPN members Ron Dudley and Mia McPherson.

The larger version shows the effect much better.

Cropped to pano (about 50%). Usual sharpening drill.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Very cool image. That water looks like glass.

Very nice in the larger version. I've tried similar shots at the Gilbert Water Ranch but not with so many birds.

Love the peaceful feeling to this one Jim - enhanced by the glass smooth water. I really like that you were able to catch this many birds turned broadside to the light. Wish I'd have been on your side of the pickup...

Wonderful shot. It seems almost graphic.
