Just back from a 5 day canoe trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Minnesota. This is sunset at Lake Kawishiwi.

Canon 5d3. 16-35/2.8. ISO 50. f/16. 3 exposures, hand blended, with a 10 sec exposure on the water using a 3 stop ND. See LARGER VERSION for best detail.

Quietly spectacular, Doug. My kind of trip, and my kind of image. I love to look at scenes like this, but it's difficult to describe how relaxed, peaceful, and contented they make be feel; still looking for the right words, but with scenes like this, who needs words?

I have wanted to canoe the BWCA for quite some time, but have never made it up there. This makes me want to go even more. Love the vivid sky and cloud color. I might crop about 10% off the bottom as that distracts my eye. The relfected color is very nice.

Beautiful, sweet, simple and achingly serene. This is outstanding

Awesome Doug...is this a stack? The details front to back are great. :toast:

Thanks folks. Bruce, I did not need to do any focus stacking here - f/16 was adequate for a good dof. Images were blended for exposure.

Doug, This is really nice! You captured the wonderful feel of this area in this image. I'm heading close to this area tomorrow but won't actually be in the BWCAW. Glad I saw this before I leave. It is a beautiful scene and so well done! :toast:

Very nice light. I like how the water picks up the colors from the clouds so well. Overall contrast in the sky seems a bit extreme. It further away, but is more contrast than the foreground rocks. Maybe the NDF in action?
