Glory in the Redwoods

We hiked the Damnation Trail in Redwoods National Park a week ago and as we descended down closer to the ocean the fog got thicker and and the sun beams started streaming through the trees. I got a little bit of another tree in the ulc which I wish wasn't there. To much to clone out.

You've done a really nice job capturing the light beams. Though I like how the beams radiate to the upper corners as well as the lower corners, I do find the trunk in the extreme upper right corner to be a bit of a distraction. You might consider cropping a bit off the top (just below the blue sky on the far left side) to a stout panoramic format. It might also be interesting to experiment with B&W, and push the contrast a hair further. This would take the image out of the realm of reality and let the imagination run wild.

Here is a B&W as a repost. I would be interested in more opinions.

I like the b&w version. It seems cleaner, with fewer distractions but both are pretty spectacular. Really nice job on this scene.

This is really some spectacular light! Ben's cropping suggestion was right on the money. I'd like to see the cropped version in color before making a choice. Nice capture, Richard!

Very nicely seen and captured.
Will make a spectacular LARGE print for you.
Exposing for the light is tricky in these situations, you nailed it.
Well done

Beautiful light rays, I think I like the color version best. In any case, fantastic scene.

Richard, Very nice work capturing this scene. The light beans look fantastic, and I really enjoy the mood this has. The crop version looks good to me. I might even take it farther and crop just below the sky on the far right. Doing a scroll crop to that point looks great on my monitor... Just another thought. Very nice work on this!

The black and white does it for me Richard. The crop Nick mentioned is a great idea, IMO.

This turned out extremely well! I am partial to the B&W version, but the color is excellent as well.
