Peace Of Mine

This one is from this summer. It was a cold and rainy day and sky cleared just in time for sunset. It was raining when I arrived at Grimsel pass (Bernes Alps, Switzerland)and the temps were in the lower 60's I guess. I waited in my car and hoping for the rain to stop but it got worse instead. Anyway, after one hour waiting in my car, I decided to drove down to lake Oberaar. I was so surprised to see that just two or three miles from the Grimsel pass the weather was so much better. So I packed my gear i explored the area. about 30 minutes later I found this little pond and i thought this might be a great place for the evening....and even a better place for some morning shots.
This one was taken in the evening a couple of minutes after sunset.

I think this is beautiful. I love the reflections in the water. Great job. I do think though, I would have cropped it some on the left. The top seems a little top heavy to the right.

I like the very natural processing here. It has a very calm and serene feel, and the rock helps to anchor the foreground.

Wonderful reflection and the detail in the large version is great, particularly like the glow on the glacier and the last light on the mountain top... the comp works well for me :toast:

Very nice Bill, I really like the comp with the light reflected in the ponds and the way it leads my eye right through to the distant mountains. Very obliging cloud too.

Gary.

A beautiful shot Bill. Love the way you've captured the clouds lighting up in the reflection. Excellent balance of the light.

I like everything about this shot.
Especially the highlight/shadow contrast, while still capturing all the details in both.
Very well done and processed.

Bill, this is a fascinating image to me. The majestic mountains in the distance draw my attention, and your composition leads me from there to the ponds in the foreground. These foreground details add a lot for me and make me feel like standing in the middle of the scene. Great work in my opinion.

Bill, this is outstanding. Your point-of-view is perfect to capture the reflections -- all of them -- and the exposure and processing perfectly render all the details. It's a beautiful scene, and your composition makes it even better. Peter said it well: You bring the viewer into the scene. It makes this image a personal experience for the viewer.
