...and Color.

Hi all.

This is an osteospermum that has been making some very nice blooms lately. There is a purple dahlia blooming behind the bloom. I was lucky the other day in that the bloom was backlit with the setting sun. I used a gold (or silver) reflector to throw some light back on the bloom from the front.

I have several different shots with different apertures, but I liked this one a lot.

Any and all thoughts appreciated.

Nathan

Nathan, I find this a superb image. I think the comp is terrific and the overall color unique. Good job.

Lovely color. I like the sharp details against the soft pastels are excellent. This is very nice

Good cram and comp. I particularly like the way the colors are alternating in a semi-regimented way.

I am looking at the Sigma 180 as my next lens purchase. How do you like it?

I love the 180 macro Philip. I had an old 55mm Nikkor Micro, and I did not enjoy macro shooting much. My wife suggested this lens as a present to myself when I graduated with an MBA, and it has made macro shooting wonderful. It really has allowed me to enjoy macro shooting. I love the reach (working distance), field of view, and the sharpness is excellent. I have not regretted my purchase one bit.

Nathan - Beautifully done. I like that shallow depth of focus melting the frontal petals and the focus square on the pollen dust. I would not mind the small triangle in the front also covered by petals.

Gorgeous, Nathan. Really well done. I like the comp, light, colors, pov, dof, and pof. Did I leave anything out? :toast:

I also use a 180 macro (Tamron). I also have the Nikon 105, but I use the 180 probably 90% of the time I am shooting flowers and macro.

I like this Nathan, the shallow DOF has worked really well with this image. The colours are nice and I like the angle you have shot from.

Absolutely superb colors and detail. I think the splash of bright color in the URC really helps bring out the purple hues. Beautiful, Nathan!
