Wood duck

I have been trying to get a wood duck in flight for quite awhile but they always stayed just out of range for a good shot. But for some reason this past spring that changed. I suspect, but don't really know, that maybe it was because it was breeding time. Suddenly they were flying closer and coming much more within range as they chased the females and each other in the little bay where I usually do most of my duck photography. This is one that I was pretty happy with.

Very nice, Robert. Great pose and detail and the exposure looks great as well, something not easy with these guys.

Beautiful colors and just the tiniest bit of motion blur at the wing tip to keep some energy in the image. Beautiful detail.

Congrats Robert, looks like your persistence paid off quite nicely. I like the rich warm colors of the Woodie against the nice mottled blue BG - very pleasing.

A great shot Robert. Love the flight angle and the nice BG. Bird looks sharp in the larger image. Well done.

I would be happy too Robert, great technically and esthetically. Love the extended wings and sheen on the speculum.

Nice work and congratulations on getting this one in flight. I also don't have one of this species and have never even had the opportunity. Colors, detail, position in the frame all look great.
