Pebbles and Sand

Inverness Beach, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia Canada

The character of this beach is always changing due to the forces of the wind and surf. Here you can see the strong nature of the wind, sculpting the sand and raising the pebbles up on pedestals. When the tide comes in, the character changes once again and the slate is wiped clean.... then the process starts all over again.

Canon TSE 24mm f/3.5L

Thanks for having a look.

This is an unusual and interesting image with the intense textures in the sand almost looking like a crop of plants.

Just beautiful Eva! The details in the sand are incredible, especially the lines created by the build-up of sand behind the rocks and how they draw the eye back to the horizon. Really well thought out composition :toast:

Eva, I knew this is yours at first sight. I do like the almost abstract character of this image. The repetitive pattern of the pebbles together with the leading lines in the sand work interestingly together for me. Wonderful foreground details in the larger version.

Eva,
The larger version has excellent detail. The contrast between the brown and blue is very nice along with another wonderful unending view too.
As a side note; this looks like the sandlot my brothers & I played football on as kids...

This is excellent Eva! I like the low perspective, this gives a good feeling what the place is about. For some reason the image appears to have a cw rotation, but it has not, the horizon is parallel to the upper border of my browser window...

Great beach love the wind shadows behind the stones and the random but surprisingly equidistant nature of the separated stones.

Always fascinating what nature can do. These rocks makes for quite a foreground, and the soft light is working very nicely here.

Wow, that is unusual. I like how some of the stones seem to be sitting on a little sand pedestal.

Eva,

I love this! The pov is fantastic - looks like you're right down on your belly getting this one. All the little rocks make me think of little crabs of something swarming the beach. The texture in the sand is wonderful as well. Spot on with the processing and sharpening for the web - the large version looks especially good.

I like the inclusion of the sky, and it's a complimentary and not overpowering sky. but I like even more how much space you gave to the sky relative to your main subject, the sand and rocks. I think this is a very well balanced and pleasing image. One that deserves hanging on a wall.

The diagonal ridges in the sand formed behind the stones and leading to the center are quite nice visually.

Eva, this is avery captivating image... at first I thought it a bit over-sharpened, but once I looked at the larger image, I realized it was just gorgeous textures. Looks like a fascinating area. Well caught!

An interesting and unusual beach scene Eva. I like it a lot! Nice low angle to those rocks, and I like the inclusion of the bit of seaweed. It feels like a little bit too much blue and magenta, but it's only a subjective thing. Love the cloud shapes and lines in your comp.
