Passing Light

As the light was coming to an end I decided to do a long exposure to capture some moving clouds and some color in the canyon. This was the result. This was taken from Point Sublime.

Canon 5D II w/ 17-40mm
f/14
2 minutes
ISO 200

Check the LARGER version too.

Thanks for looking!

An incredible view! And an incredible sunset, to go with it. Nicely captured and processed...

A fascinating view! The majesty of the grand canyon comes across quite well.

Chikku,

A grand view of the canyon indeed blessed with a glorious sky. for some reason though, my first impression is that the dramatic sky is overwhelming the canyon. I can't quite put my finger on it though. I think the long exposure works very well. It's either a light/dark issue between the top and bottom or it's the difference in bold color and contrast of the sky vs. the soft light and color of the canyon.

Of course it's always about our own personal choice and vision, but I think I may try and increase the brightness slightly in the sky and decrease the contrast and even the saturation a smidge in the sky to better balance with the condition of light in the valley. Maybe I'm completely off with this, so just take this with a grain of salt... ;-)

Certainly an image worth perfecting.

Another beauty Chikku. Love the colors in the sky and the distance between fore and background. Nice work.

Man, I should have shoved you off the cliff when I had a chance! This is so awesome. This makes my version of the scene look bad. The ONLY thing I can suggest is perhaps more contrast and brightness in the canyon since the sky is pretty contrasty already. Otherwise, you nailed this one.

Beautiful, Chikku. The cliffs pop much better in the larger version.
