Inverness Beach, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia Canada

Luckily the wind was calm on my favorite beach that crisp October morning as I found a colorful sky and reflection against the red sand of Inverness Beach. Taken in the opposite direction of sunrise.

In exactly four weeks I will be retuning to Cape Breton for a week of photography. First stop will be Inverness Beach. This time however I'll have my Pentax 67II and a good supply of film.

Thanks for having a look.

I like this a lot Eva. It has such a relaxing feel to it - light and airy, if that makes sense. I might boost contrast just a wee bit, but I'm on an uncalibrated work monitor at the moment. Well done.

Eva, the plainness of your composition is consistent with the serenity of the scene for me. You convey the specific atmosphere of this place wonderfully to me.

Thanks everyone. Here is a version with a little more contrast. Which do you prefer?

Eva,

Wow, love this! The pastels, colors are just wonderful here. for me, I think I prefer the original, although the repost is excellent too. But I think it's the darkness in the upper left quad that gets darker with the added contrast which brings me back to your original.

The reflection and sweeping curve of the sand just adds to this wonderful composition. No nits from me. Love it.

Another one of your very fine open vista shots, Eva. I think between the two it's one of those personal preference issues and I'll ride the fence, both appeal to my taste.

Love the long leading line of the river and the reflected clouds. What a spectacular sky. I happen to like the gentler feel of the original.

Wonderful, love the soft colors and gentle sweeping lines. I thought the same thing as Bill on the contrast. But in comparison, I like the original better.

Gorgeous. I prefer the original version. I was musing about landscapes that you feel you can step into this week and this certainly fits the bill.

wonderful reflection, Eva. I prefer the original for the sky, but like the added contrast of the repost in the reflection (if that's legitimate...) - the reflection itself looks a bit like an old master's painting to me, it is so good...
