Zig Zag Canyon

I really liked the zig zag effect of the ridges going down this canyon on the East side of Steen's Mountain. I tried to bump up the contrast and saturation in processing to make the ridges stand out a bit more. Thanks for any C & C, and thanks for looking.

Canon 60D, f22, 1/20 sec, iso400, -0.7 exp. bias, 35mm (17-85 IS lens), handheld with IS on.

Ed,

This is excellent! The "zig-zag" you call out is emphasized by the varied color which I think works very well. This is a very minor suggestion, but I'm thinking if you cropped maybe 5% off the top and enough off the bottom to remove the patch of snow in the LLC, you could compress the scene somewhat which brings more emphasis to the graphic design and color. Just a thought.

Good eye seeing and capturing this.

A nice array of color. I'd suggest also to crop the upper valley out. :)

Thank you for the suggestions. I have re-cropped and cloned out a bit of the snow in the bottom left corner. Less distractions seem to help it in my opinion. Thanks.

Ed,

Thanks for taking the time to rework and repost. I think this version, while subtle changes, makes for a stronger image. Nice job.

Neat shot! On seeing the thumb, I thought this might be a Tony Kuyper image with all the color variations in the rocks. The crop works very well. You might also try burning in the flat area up top in the original so it attracts less attention and see what you think. The zig zag through the canyon and all of the colors are terrific.
