Purple Gallinule
by Randy Bacon
The Purple Gallinule is one of the most striking birds on the Gulf Coast - when you can get them out of the crud they usually hang out in. I caught this momma PG as she was stepping away from the kids for a while i would have loved to get a lower POV, but there were several alligators lurking in the area and I chose to stay back for the edge a bit. Image was captured at Brazos Bend State Park just outside Houston
