Peek-A-Boo, September 6th 2010

If you have read the profile, at my portfolio page, you will see me make mention of this first image. Photography was a life saver for me and this first macro photo, got me hooked and took me through a very rough period of my life.

Peek-A-Boo!

Tiny hover fly, hiding behind the stamens, of a purple wild flower.

Panasonic DMC-TZ3
Focal Length 46mm
Shutter Speed 1/320 sec
Aperture f/4.9
ISO/Film 100

I was asked to post the camera settings, for my photos. I could not afford an expensive camera body and macro equipment, so I built an attachment for my camera, that included cardboard tubing and lots of duct tape. The above settings, may or may not make any sense since the attachment changes just about everything. :)

For more details, regarding my background and photos, please visit my profile page.

Well, Stephen, you certainly had amazing success right out of the box. Great vision to see and capture this. I like the perspective, and the detail in the hover fly, but I mostly like the nice soft purple bg. This would be an excellent image even without the hover fly, but the hover fly puts this over the top. Thanks for sharing. :toast:

Thanks Scott :) When I got this image, up on the computer screen, it got me hooked. Now... here I am, two year later, deciding what camera to upgrade to.

Still can't decide, whether to jump into full frame (Canon 5Dmkii) or maybe a higher end P&S (fujifilmX10)

Decisions!!!!

Cool image, Stephen. The stamens make a neat "jungle" look.
