I always like to post an image when I have one that fits the theme. But I apologize for not participating as much recently by commenting on the fine offerings of others. I've been in the process of moving to a new residence. I was doing all of the packing myself over the past few weeks. I moved to the new place a couple of days ago. Now I'll be spending the next few weeks (at least) unpacking and getting situated here. Moving is hard work!

Anyway ... The vertical parallel lines of the desert varnish are what are most obvious with this composition. But I think that the horizontal parallel lines of the strata forming the cliff are also an interesting element. Believe it or not, I actually toned down the magenta significantly. This was taken last year in the Kolob Canyons section of Zion.

That is an amazingly clean-cut sheer cliff! The vertical bands of color are quite striking and, as you mentioned, the horizontal lines and their texture add even more interest. Good comp and I like the placement of the green trees at the base. The greens and shades of red work well together. Nice image and fits the theme well.

We'll forgive you for not participating much, Jim. I've moved a few too many times myself and it is always a lot of work!

I really like everything about this Jim. The verticals, and I had noticed the horizontal strata before reading your description. The soft, complementary organic greens are a nice contrasting element against the geometric reds of the cliff and provide a sense of scale.

NICE! :toast:

Hope everything with the move went smoothly.

Strong colors, Jim. I like the green and red contrast. Really strong compositional elements well placed. Lovely!
