Another Orbweaver

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted August 31, 2012211 views6 comments
These Orchard Orbweavers are quite plentiful in my gardens. They are very beautiful though seldom noticed because of their small size (1/4" or so). I have posted several other images of these spiders previously in this gallery.

Canon Rebel T1i. 180mm macro lens. F/8 for 1/20 sec. ISO 800. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

I love the shallow depth of field and what it and your focus point does to the web. Excellent composition, too. I might try to tone down the whites on the orb weaver. Great image!

Another exceptional Orbweaver capture, Carolyn. Very well timed for the light which I know was not accident. I especially like the light on the web. Great perspective on both the spider and the web. The colors are certainly vivid, particularly the violet in the web and edges of the spider, but it I certainly like the look. Beautiful. :toast:

Great colors! I like your composition and lighting. Thanks for sharing. My orbweavers have failed to show up this year, so glad to see photos of them.

I think this is really outstanding. Your focus and light are spot on giving the image a clean and uncluttered look. I like that I can see the web for context and the colors of the spider are beautiful! As a non-spider shooter, I feel I would like to see the spider sitting on top of the web (even though I am sure that is not how he was). I keep turning my head to appreciate the details in the spider. Just a thought, not a criticism!

Stunning image. Your dof adds so much interest to the pattern of the web and the radiant colors are remarkable. The pov is also great. A masterpiece IMO. Very nicely done.
