Lotus Pond Abstract

This is different from most of my images, and it is probably not for everyone. Anyway, I still want to post it in the landscape gallery and hear your opinions.

One autumn evening (probably 5-6 years ago) I was shooting around a pond full of dried lotus leaves. The scene was very chaotic, so I decided to use a tele lens to focus on one area and made an abstract-type of shot.

I like this a lot. Great color, contrast and pattern. I am on the fence about the bright reflection at the top. I find it draws my attention away from the excellent patterns in the foreground.

Very peaceful and Zen-like. The bright spot on top detracts, imo, and draws my eye and negatively impacts the mood here. Easy to fix, if you wished to.

I like this a bunch Yiming. I love the reflected color. Somewhat chaotic but that really doesn't seem to cause an issue at all. I might clone out where the stem touches the right frame border (very minor). Like Harley, I find the sun reflection somewhat bothersome - a mixture of cropping and cloning might help that though.

Love this Yiming, well seen. I agree with Sandy and Harley about the reflection. I might try a crop from the top to right below that topmost shape, and then clone out the rest of the reflection to make the orange color uniform. Just a thought.

This works for me, I like that type of image. It is probably still a bit chaotic (and I am the last to have permission to complain about this ). I think some more coherence can be achieved using only the left part - left of the bright area (reflection of the sun?). Or probably, that one distracting piece is the larger darker "stuff" on the right. All other forms are interesting and elegant in shape. Than one mentioned is pretty "bold".

That was a lot of nit picking, just trying to analyze what draws my attention a bit too much I guess.

Interesting abstract work, Yiming, I like how the shapes lead the eye up to the sun's refection.

I wouldn't change anything, I find this very appealing Yiming, it has a peaceful feel to it.

A beautiful shot Yiming. Love the vibrant color and comp. I would crop from the top to just eliminate the top reed/stick.

Beautiful image Yiming. I really like the 9 different lotus leaves which create symmetric shapes on the water. Very well done.

Really cool. Wonder what it would look like in black and white.
