Painted Lady

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted August 26, 2012275 views9 comments

I believe this is a Painted Lady butterfly. Perched on a Butterfly Bush. The yellow bg is from a patch of Black Eyed Susans. Nikon D700, 180 macro, 1/2500 sec, iso 640, f8. This cropped about 35% from original. Larger image included. Comments/suggestions/questions welcome.

Scott, I like the cropped version better. This is a really pristine butterfly and the colors really set it off. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful colors and light, great look at the butterfly. As far as the original/cropped versions, I think I'd try cropping just a little bit from the right and leaving the rest.

The crop really puts the Lady in a position of power. The details in the hind wing, pose, and background are great.

Beautiful light and color. The crop you chose puts the attention squarley on the Lady (as it should be) and she is beautiful. Great work
