INCREDIBLE was the first word that came to mind.This was a normal photograph changed using the Fractalius filter?

Richard - yes, a "normal" image of a cheetah (cropped close and BG blacked out) + Fractalius filter.

There are a lot of options and things to learn, but the filter is VERY awesome.

When it first came out, a lot of us got it, and there were a couple months of spectacular images posted. Now, I guess, the newness has worn off - but it's still a lot of fun to play with.

IMO, it does best with an animal or bird with a plain BG, like this cheetah.

Sandy,

Fractalius is such an interesting and expressive filter.... This image works very well with it. Just a note to those wanting to try it (like myself), it's only for PCs with no mac version available.

Congratulations Sandy! This is a magnificent image. I first heard about this process from one of your photos a couple of years back. I vowed to check it out when I got a handle on Photoshop. I think the time is now. :toast:

Belated congratulations on the yearly award. This is such a cool application of a filter that has so many permutations that it gets confusing in making choices. No confusion here, though; just a great eye for what works.
