WC-548 Castle Mountain

This is Castle Mountain - located halfway between Banff and Lake Louise (Alberta). I drive past here regularly, sometimes on the Trans Canada Highway (#1), but more often on the Bow Valley Parkway (#1-A). There is a roadside pull-out on the 1-A, and a very short boardwalk (maybe 50 feet) to get to this view point.

On nice days (such as this late fall day) I'll stop and snap a shot with the cell-phone to email to family/friends and show where I am. This was taken with the BlackBerry 8530. That's the only EXIF data the phone provided.

Hey Rick, looks like you have a gorgeous day for it. We might even pass each other - it'll be a little after 6pm when I drive by there today - cheers, Karen

Wonderful scene with great lighting! I like the brightness on the front of the mountain compared with the somber cloudy sky. On the large version especially, the texture in this image has a painterly feel to it. I do notice some ghosting along the mountain tops.

This is pretty amazing for a cell phone. I need a new phone. I like the lighting. Very nice, Karen. :toast:

I like the lighting and the painterly softness. It's a lovely photo. I assume that the halo along the ridge is from the cell, not the processing.

This really does have the look of a painting, specially the large version. The halo is noticeable, but considering the source and its intended use, I think it works nicely.
