Beach blues

A cliche shot from none other than second beach. We all know icons are icons for reasons. This beach really took me by surprise especially the hike in. Extremely beautiful place despite the crowds. This was taken at sunset as the hordes of photographers made their way to capture this scene. I liked the varied tones of blues and the hint of reflection. Definitely would have liked to have a dramatic sunset, but the clouds stayed far offshore. Comments and critiques appreciated.

The colors make the image for me. The hole in the rock on the right is brighter and adds a bit of mystery to the image. The image has a very nice feel to it, very calm and peaceful.

Very iconic for sure Peter! The colors really make the shot. And at least the clouds stayed way off shore instead of right on top of you!

Peter,

Sometimes the lack of clouds or dramatic sunset give way to beautiful, clean colors and lovely conditions like this. I think you did well with this, love the color. I could see cropping some off the bottom for a more narrow view, but that's just a thought and not a correction of any kind.

Been there once, all I got was gray.... so consider yourself lucky!

Thank you Joseph and Lon, I think it's so difficult to find something new from here, but whenever I make a return visit I have a few ideas I haven't quite seen from here.

Beautiful image Peter. I really like the colors and the silhouettes. It may be a cliche shot, but I never get tired of seeing images from here.

Go in Winter--no crowds, just a few crazy surfer types
I like this despite the cliche, its purty. There's some kind of smudge (?) on the left side of the left sea stack...maybe just a cloud.

Thanks Scott and Stan.

Stan, I'd like to visit in the winter or even the spring when the rainforest is lush. Even with the crowds, they don't take away from the overall beauty of this place. That "smudge" on the left of the seastack is a small cloud at the head of the offshore fog.

I still like dramatic sunsets, but even seeing those all the time gets boring. I like the cleanliness here! IMO, just as good as if you had all that drama you wanted.

Thanks Mark, the stillness and subtleties here were quite spectacular. It's almost as if time stops still here as the entire beach was silent despite the crowds. I'm just glad It wasn't fogged in or clouded over.
