This is wonderful, Peter. Showing just the head without any neck gives it an abstract feel to the image and I love how the horse's eyes seem to look right at you yet also away...horses are some of the most beautiful creatures. Nice bg lighting also.

My first impression is that this is a nice intimate portrait and I like the reflections in the water. As I stare at it, the disembodied head is kind of weird. Maybe a little of the neck would help.

Thank you for the comments. The choice to show only the head was all about capturing the expression in the eyes. Horse's ears are also very expressive and in this photo those too are not included for that same reason. Beth's reaction was the intent and I appreciate Allen's perspective but at least he stared.

I think I have to agree with both Beth and Allen. My first impression was like Allen's. But as I stare, it becomes more and more appealing. I think it's the bright metallic look of the water that enhances what I love most about horses faces--- they are so soft and gentle looking when the horse is at its ease. Very unique image, Peter.
