Musk Ox Herd

During my first day of my visit to the Seward Peninsula around Nome Alaska, I explored the Council Road and found this herd of Musk Ox with youngsters in the alpine country of Skookum Pass. This herd was fairly skidish, so I hiked a wide circle aound them to get ahead of them and waited for them to appear on top of this ridge.

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Nice herd image of muskox. Not sure what the small white areas in the BG are , but I find them distracting as to me they look like OOF buildings. Maybe clone them out? Also, a lower angle if it had been possible. Thanks for sharing.

I like several things about this one Ken. Calve's heads turned perfectly for the light, good whites on the legs and the snow/frost on the backs. Nice handling of the whites. I assume the whites spots John mentioned are snow, and I would probably try to clone them out :wavey:

Hello Ken

Really Cool!! Well done, All, except the One backward Guy !! These Guys have So much Character going for them! Not much visible protein for them to digest?

question: on far left guy looking at you , The Eye area of her left eye seems Very Blue?

What is your Crop?

Thanks for Sharing

I like the grouping, which I understand as typical of musk ox. Techs look fine for to me. I would like to see more versions (surely they gave more than one click) to enjoy the scene more fully!

Good looking herd and they look like they are keeping an eye on you. Interesting to see the young musk ox (I do not think I have ever seen a picture of one before). Nice job in approaching and getting this shot, way to go.

Thanks guys for your comments on my photo. To answer a few of your questions, the white spots are left over snow pack. The bluish looking eye is actually a bit fur fluffed up from the animal standing in front of her, it was quite windy up there. And this is cropped slightly from the top and right side.
