Another lady from my 2006 series "Street people of Quito"
(Not the same lady as my last post in POP, although they dress similarly)

No matter how poor and shabby the people are, most still have a smile on their face. Lots to learn from them..

I always asked permission to photograph them, and always gave them money for food (hopefully)

Sandy, I prefer the portrait showcasing the character of the lady. Although the enviroment is interesting, it lessens her importance in the whole scheme of things. The painted wall seems out of place with the wall and door opening. Don't know why except that I like things orderly. The "street people" series is an excellent idea. The lines in their face tell quite a story.

Thanks, Patricia - re-post with tighter crop is much better. I still have trouble with good comps sometimes..

Travel is the most eye opening experience imo. We could learn a lot about what happiness, or at least contentment is from people just such as this. Your repost is better, but I don't think you have too much of a problem with your comps, Sandy. A fine storytelling image.

This angle of view makes her look diminutive and undignified compared to the portrait of the other lady. Repost is much better in that regard.
