WC #108 - Bristlecone Pine Study

Bristlecone Pines are among the oldest living things on this planet, many over 4000 years old. Standing at 11,000 ft amidst these ancients, in California's White Mountains, one cannot deny a feeling of awe. I had two goals: 1) do an intimate study and 2) come up with a photo that is not your usual one of bristlecone pines. Looking up I was granted my wish, when I found these trees with their twisted branches reaching toward the sky.

Camera : Pentax 67ii
Lens : 105mm/f2.4
Film : Fujichrome Velvia 50 ISO
Filters : UV, Circular Polarizer
Date : Late Oct, 2003

I love the intense color of the sky and the shapes of the wood.
The composition is a bit busy; you could try to isolate only one tree to improve this one.

I like the color and the perspective. I also like having two trees in the image, like two old friends. However, with the two trees, I'd prefer a slight shift left to have complete separation between them.

Anil: I like this shot as is. There is good detail throughout and I think the composition is fine. You might crop a little from the top and right to eliminate the branches from what I assume is a third tree, but even that is a coin toss for me. Nicely seen. ><>
