Pensacola Bay Abstract

Many people don't like abstracts, but I love them, and love shootng them. It's the closest I can come to painting. I shot this pre-sunrise abstract on Pensacola Bay - I liked the exagerated blues and the faint rust tones, as well as the contrast. I played with different shutter speed & f/stop combinations until I got what I wanted - part blurry/part sharp.

Well, good to see you put something up here, Bill. It's been too long, unless I missed something.

This is fabulous imo. An immediately engaging and gorgeous abstract with a mesmerizing quality from the lines creating motion. Then there's the color! Gallery worthy.

Well I love abstracts Bill. I am actually working on a similar image taken at Ocean Point in Boothbay Maine for an up coming Labor Day art show on the Waterfront in Boothbay, Maine, Love the light and textures as well as the blues with a touch of gold.

Yeah, where have you been? You still have your touch with the light, I see. There is also what appears to be a great combo of sharp lines and blur in this.

Awesome work Bill. Love the detail and somewhat canvas-looking texture. It really does look like an oil on canvas. Love the colors too.

I love the abstract look and color to it, but I am finding it to be kind of a "tweener" on the softness. I would like it sharper or softer.

Bill,

I just couldn't let this one go by without commenting. This is just fabulous. A perfect blend of abstract and reality. Clearly it's water, yet it has such an abstract and painterly look and feel. I can envision this as a large print on a wall in a large hotel or corporate office. I love the rich blue tones. I could also see this as part of a series.....

Beautifully captured Bill, I love this.

You have a nice thing going here with the blurry/sharp juxtaposition and the delightful variation in tones. A very nice abstract, Bill.

Bill,

Must have missed this earlier.... Truly Wonderful! The motion and tiny chaos is exceptional. I particularly like the small orange reflections scattered about the image. This image should be next to the "water" page on wikipedia.
