Punk Rock

Wikipedia definition of punk rock: music genre that developed between 1974 and 1976 in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Rooted in garage rock and other forms of what is now known as protopunk music, punk rock bands eschewed perceived excesses of mainstream 1970s rock. Punk bands created fast, hard-edged music, typically with short songs, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti-establishment lyrics. Punk embraces a DIY ethic; many bands self-produced recordings and distributed them through informal channels.

That's sort of what came to mind as I was working on this image.

Any thoughts?

I like the cooler tones here Tony. As always, the textures you capture are amazing.

This looks part volcanic wasteland and part cosmic graffiti. I find the denuded hills so crunchy and lifeless to constrast with floral colors that belong in a lush tropic garden. Weird... draws me into the mystery of nature. Nicely done

Great title, Tony!! As usual your artistic interpretation of the scene is very interesting. I like all of the lines and contours throughout, and of course the colors add a lot of interest.

Yeah, does remind me of someone with spiky, highly colored hair. I love all the angled layers on the left and how the warm colors in the foreground grade into cool colors in the distance.

Another fascinating entry from your series here. Man, I could stand in front of a large print of this for a few hours! Love the comp here, too.

Not quite sure I follow your line of reasoning wrt punk rock but 'tis a nice colourful image. You rather like this particular lump of Bentonite, don't you?

I really like the lines of the slopes here. Combined with your excellent texture and wonderful colors, they make this image something special.

Tony, This is really, really nice. I love the colors and textures (as usuall) and your composition is wonderful. I'm not thinking about punk rock at all looking at this. Like Morris, wish I could be looking at this as a large print!

Gabba Gabba Hey! you've given me an idea...my next shot will be entitled 'Punk Rock Girl'

Ok, TK, here's the straight dope (enhanced by the beer that i just downed...): This is classical music, it aint punk rock. I like this music, its beautifully presented and performed, it flows well, its technical and artistic. But punk rock uses two or three power chords, and thats it. This uses about 12 chords, and theyre jazz substitutions at that
So, here's your homework, should you decide to take on the challenge: first, listen to the DK's Holiday in Cambodia at least three times, then take your least used lens and hand hold the camera to shoot a subject that you're deathly afraid of (maybe some wildlife??) Finally, use no Photoshop whatsoever in the final production. I cant wait to see the result, cause i have a hunch it will kick *** :wavey:

Nice image, Tony.

What did you have on the turntable when you were working in this? Maybe you just smoked too much cheap wine!

There is a certain amount of anarchy going on TK. Some of those colors remind me of my hair color when I was young and playing in bands! There are wild elements to your expression, but the image is, as Stan suggests, more complex in nature akin to a classical score. Maybe something like the London Symphony Orchestra playing Pretty Vacant by The Sex Pistols.... wild stuff beautifully played

I like this a lot more than punk rock;) unfortunately no musical analogy comes to mind right now. I suspect somethhing by Ravel?

Tony,

No one can develop and process images like you Tony. I've long since understood the departure from reality in much of your work. the range of color and how they all flow together seamlessly, is just beautiful and simply art.

Not sure about the Punk reference though, maybe closer to the psychedelic era of the 60's and flower power.

Excellent work as always Tony.

The range of colors and tones from near to far is outstanding. This is a real winner, Tony.
