Still processing shots from my trip earlier this year. It's taking forever. I hadn't even seen this one yet "hiding" in my files, so it was a happy surprise for me tonight. Wish he had been looking a hair more towards the camera.

Galapagos Mockingbird
Mimus parvulus
This was taken away from the coast, heading up to the highlands on Santa Cruz Island
Jan 2012
Canon 7D
300mm f4L + 1.4TC
f6 at 1/500th
ISO 640
Really wish I had more canvas on top -- should I conjure some up?

Rebecka: Yeah it would have been nice if had been looking a bit more towards you, but this is still a very nice image. Very nice sharp image, wonderful background, and a great look at this bird. :toast: :toast:

I like this as posted and see no reason to trey to add more space on top.

Excellent detail in the head and eye, Rebecka and the pose works for me. I agree that it's a bit tight on top. Given the nice soft bg, it shouldn't bee to hard to add a some canvas up there.

Excellent image - beautiful bird, great exposure, nice pose and BG with a bit of colour. Yes, it's a bit tight on top, but fine as is to me.

Cool Bird!!! Looks very nice as presented to me too, but you could always experiment with adding canvas some day when you have time. Great pose and sharp in all the right places, and a pleasing background. Sweet Portrait Rebecka

Nice soft lighting and a beautiful bird. Nicely done, Rebecca. It's always nice when you travel this far and then get the shot right too. :toast:

The bg makes this for me Rebecka, I agree a touch more of a headturn would have put this over the top but a lovely image as is, Sherman's portrait was excellent too! :toast:

nice, Rebecka! cool bird and nice soft light. I wouldn't object to this going a little looser all around, but not really a big deal, it looks good as is.

I little head turn would of been nice but still a fine image as is. I like the feather detail, pose and background, way to go.
