A long time since I've posted in Photo Art. This is an anemone nearing the end of its life and somewhat the worse for wear ! I've applied a single texture layer to get the effect I wanted.

Canon 400D, 100mm Macro lens, 1/6 sec @ f9, Helicon stack, natural light indoors.

Are ;you stating that you just applies a textured background layer, and what plug in did you use? I like it.

Jackie ; thanks for the comment. Yes I just used one texture layer blended with the main image in Aperture using OnOne's Perfect Effects 3 plug in. The texture file came from OnOne's Marketplace.

Is the texture layer over the entire image. Sorry, I don't know the process of using textures. The result is pleasing, but wonder what the result would be if you isolated the flower and put the texture just on the background. Think it would make the flower more pronounced. Yet, the muted result may have been the intended plan. Would appreciate an email, if you have the time, to teach me the process.

Lovely effect Ian. I really like how the texture takes this image to that mysterious place somewhere between sketch/painting and photo. It is very captivating

Ian,.. Love the wonderful textural quality of the flower. It has an old print feel to it. Perhaps the background might serve the image better by being darker or a different color. A blurred background and/or one with a vignette might help the image "jump" forward a bit. As it stands, the background is on the same plane as the flower and flattens the image. A blurred background or change in its tonal quality would create more dimensionality to this lovely flower.

Ian, I like this as posted. I think the texture layer you used is perfect for this particular flower at this stage of its life. I like the colors also.
