Not sure what kind of hunting fly this is but it sure is strong. This was taken at the Veluwe in the Netherlands in spring.

Wow! What a find! Did you see where the wasp took it? It is probably taking it to a hole where it will lay eggs in it! From what I have read, many hunting wasps don't kill their prey but immobilize it so it is fresh food when the babies emerge!

Ah it's a hunting wasp it was indeed taking it to a hole. Somehow on that day there were a lot of these wasps emerging from holes in the sand and they were definetely out
hunting. Poor spider but i guess it makes sense to bring fresh food to the nest

This image gives me the shakes!
But in a good way.
I like the documentary feel to this, it really tells a story.

Cool capture Ester! A couple weeks ago I was kneeling down on the ground working and saw this same scene and couldn't believe my eyes, so I guess we have a similar kind of wasp here in Maine.

Wow, he is strong! He is carrying a load bigger than himself. Interesting to read comments about this wasp. Great find,
Ester!

The pose of the spider makes this look like they are still locked in combat. Kind of a miniature monster movie. Way to get low to capture this one, Ester.
