Dawn over endless lands

I was stoked to discover this sunrise shoot in my files from our road-trip to the Maluti Mountains (Golden Gate Highlands National Park) last year.

The view from the Highlands Mountain Retreat in this Park is unbeatable. The log cabins sit right at the edge of this valley overlooking the splendour below.

This is a blend of 3 exposures to control dynamic range in the scene.

Techs:
Canon 7D with Canon 10-22mm USM @ 10mm
f11 @ ISO 100

Morkel, I loved getting lost in this photograph. I like the colors and how the rock formations lead my eye toward the sunset. I also think you did a very nice job with the blending of three photographs--just enough to give the dynamic range, but not so much that it takes away from the moment. What a striking land to visit and thanks for sharing this shot. In terms of ideas to play with, you could see what different crops gives you; maybe the right 2/3 of the picture (cropping out the left 1/3). You may have already played with various crops and this one may be the best. I really like it.

What a gorgeous scene! Excellent light and composition here. You did a great job 'developing' this one, too.

Stunning image Morkel! Great scene and great colors.

PS - Your Northern Kruger trip report on the SANPARKS forum is really great.

This is STUNNING! Only though is to clone that white dot in the distant background on the left.

Love the depth created by the foreground ridges running into the distance. What a neat "find" in the files.

I remember you vertical shot of this place and I like this landscape version much better. Wonderful sky to complement some nice looking country, well done.

You've worked the exploding sky very well into the foreground.
